Sara & Ethan's Modern Wedding with Thoughtful Design and Artful Touches
Fort Mason, San Francisco
Sara & Ethan come from a background of experience in architecture and design for their modern wedding, and naturally landed upon the work of Dutch landscape architect Piet Oudolf as a source of inspiration for their wedding. When they brought their inspiration to me, I knew immediately that we needed Sammy of Lambert Floral Studio, who graduated with a degree in landscape architecture and has designed numerous private gardens for homes around the Bay Area. Sammy suggested a central garden stretching across the center of Gallery 308 at Fort Mason, and Sara & Ethan employed their technical skills to determine the final 40ft long scale. Using primarily perennial grasses and other herbaceous plants, Sammy created a textural garden reminiscent of the way plants would spontaneously grow in the wild, painting with plants in the style of Piet Oudolf.
Sara & Ethan sought to create a curated and thoughtful experience to share with their guests, which included special touches like bonsai-wishing-trees placed upon a custom built table, a band-led walk to dinner, and poem cards for their guests. Sara wore a structured Carolina Herrera gown, styled with a gently wavy, sophisticated ponytail and minimal jewelry. Guests were treated to sumptuous food served family style at tables placed surrounding the garden installation piece, before dancing the night away to music played by the live band. These details came together to create a wedding that felt modern, organic, and intimate.
